SHOW NOTES 017 Stephanie May Wilson

Check out this weeks episode here

Y’all I am SO excited to introduce you to Stephanie if you haven’t already met her online. She is seriously the sweetest and if felt like sitting down with an old friend. Stephanie has an amazing story that is all written down in her book, Lipstick Gospel. I love the work that Stephanie does from guiding women into new and deep friendship, to helping women make the most of their single lives.

I think my favorite part of this time with Stephanie is that she wants to help others have a deep and real relationship with God but her goal is to help you meet God right where you are, not like He a scary principal but to have conversations with Him, like He is your best friend.

I got to ask her for some advice for my dear babysitter who is headed off on an adventure around the world called WORLD RACE and I love what Stephanie said. “Be like  play dough.” Don’t be afraid of change! Embrace the differences! I just loved that and I know that we could all grow from that!

I just hope you love Stephanie as much as I do. I just adore her and her heart for friendship, and not just mediocre friendship but true and lasting friendship. She says, “Friendship is not something to be looked over but something to approach with intentionality!”

OKAY….So in this episode I TOTALLY missed spoke…Can anyone tell me what I said incorrectly?! The First person who tells me what I said wrong will win a free KOOZIE!!!

Here is a list of Stephanie’s Books:

Lipstick Gospel Devotional & Prayer Journal

Selfie - Amanda Shook

Check out this weeks episode!

Amanda Shook is a real life friend of mine. She lives in our shared hometown of Kenai Alaska and is just the sweetest. I know that I say that about every guest I have on, but they are all my friends and I don’t think I’d have friends that weren’t super sweet! ANYWAYS! Amanda is one of the first people I knew that started a “side hustle”.  I am so excited for you guys to hear how she started her Etsy shop, how it transitioned and what came of it. I think one thing I love the most about this episode is that Amanda didn’t just stay where she was, or with what she was doing. She shifted and she needed to. She stepped back when she wasn’t feeling her healthiest and she looked for an alternative path. I know that’s something I get stuck in…I started here and now I can never change!

I hope that you enjoy this conversation with Amanda, it really was just two friends sitting down and catching up on life.

ALSO, if you have any questions regarding oils, Young Living or anything along those lines I know that Amanda would be SO happy to help you!! You can send her a Message on Instagram or head to her website!

Check out this episode here!

Jamie this awesome woman of God. She is a preacher, teacher, minster, mom, wife and friend to just about everyone who meets her. She is sweet, sassy and sarcastic and just a stinking hoot to be around.

In the past two years Jamie has launched a book RICH FOR GOOD and then started a new ministry NO STRINGS ATTACHED. In this ministry her and her team go into the strip clubs in Tulsa Oklahoma to meet, make friends and share the gospel with strippers. Not to shame and condemn them but to actively show the women, bouncers, bar tenders and really anyone who will talk to them the love of Christ. It is not always easy or pretty but I am so excited by the work they are doing.

IT'S TIME FOR COFFEE-3author shot - Katie Ganshert

Check out this episode!

Katie Ganshert is a wife and amazing mom to two sweet kiddos. I met her while we were both in the process of adopting our sweet daughters from the DRC in Africa. We each have a daughter with special needs and that is something we continue to bond over.

After I read some of her books I had a TOTAL fan girl moment…I KNEW HER and SHE WROTE THESE BOOKS!! It was a pretty dramatic moment in my head! Katie is so wise and kind and I love that she came on the show to tell us all about her latest book NO ONE EVER ASKED. Which I have read and will not stop talking about. I believe the conversations that will happen because of this book will be the catalyst so much change!

Katie is passionate about many things, one being super mindful of her daughter seeing people who look like her. I love how her family just recently sold their house and moved so they could be apart of a more diverse community and their heart behind it all is so pure.

With a Heavy Heart

My heart breaks this week as we have seen some very well known people succumb to suicide. I don’t know their hearts, their struggles, their families or ANYTHING about them. Yet my heart breaks.

They say suicide rates are up. We are in a world where we are “connected” all the time. Yet are often so alone.

We see highlight reels and think everyone is happy or ok and we take that for an answer. Or at least a good enough answer.

But sometimes, maybe most of the time, that’s not real life.

Sometimes we need to ask more. Dig deeper. Stop expecting those who are hurting to reach out to you. We must reach out. We must do more.

The desire of my heart is to bridge this gap. Not to fix you, but to be there for you. To be your friend. To be there in those times when you feel alone. To point you to help, professional and spiritual.

Friend, you are loved. You are needed, treasured, precious, and so loved!

Please don’t try to do this thing alone.

I can’t tell you how much this sweet friend of mine has wiggled her way into my heart. JennyLynn is PRECIOUS to me. She is so fierce, strong and I love that she is using her voice to tell her story. Her story is not this fairytale of Happily Ever After but struggle, faithfulness, perseverance and joy.

She tells her story in such raw way, she’s a hold nothing back story teller. Her heart is so pure and full of joy to help others in her community.

I LOVE that she kept a journal for her future husband, that she wrote to him when she was happy, sad, and longing for him, not knowing when he would come into her life.

JennyLynn reminds me almost daily that each day is such a gift and that when she was at her lowest or sickest that she begged God to allow her to live and that she would never take her days for granted.

Her story is AMAZING and I love how she tells it so honestly.

This girl, Y’all I can’t!

If you are in a season of loneliness remember we are here.

The internet isn’t always a bad thing. The beauty of the internet or social media is that we really do have community at the tip of our fingers.

SO friends don’t be afraid to reach out and help us create our community!

SHOWNOTES 010 Jesse Tapley

Check out this weeks episode!

I am SO excited to introduce you to my very best friend in all of the world….Mr Jesse Tapley!

Jesse is my husband and he’s just the best, he has the prettiest blue eyes I’ve ever seen, makes me laugh constantly, and is always pushing me to be better. I am so excited for you to listen to this episode. Jesse shares a little bit about our family, his favorite TV shows and what its like to be friends with other dudes.

Adjust your volume accordingly…I have a loud laugh.

See! Both Nebulas are blue and have after market parts. His jeep is one of his big hobbies lately!

Jesse and I love to whine down at night with some solid TV shows for example… THE NEW GIRL – THE OFFICE and PARKS AND REC. I just spent WAY too much time looking for a gif of Jessica Day but that just reminded me how similar we are and now I am just going to skip that!

So, if you can’t tell by his jeeps name Jesse (and our boys) LOVE the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is Iron Man, Captain America, Thor…all of The Avenger Movies and Jesse told us how they watched them in order this year so if that interests you here is the order in which they watched it…. How to watch every Marvel Movie in the right order!

One of my favorite things that Jesse said was how much he values our date days. Whatever they look like I know that he values them, and that has been a struggle with me in this season of building and growing because I haven’t been placing my value there with him. So we got a little chance to talk about valuing seasons and how those seasons change so rapidly. Which is where this Andy Bernard quote from THE OFFICE comes in

“I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good ole days before you actually left them.” I think I long for the next stage in life…whatever it may be so much that I tend to miss the good ole days right in front of me.

This is Jesse’s all time favorite book. He has read it a few times and I think soon he’ll read it with Zeke!

Jesse has been listening to this podcast but wants to remind you that it is not always appropriate…meaning there is foul language!

Flossie is a friend I’ve known for basically my whole life. She grew up with my little sister and they were a part of this big group of girls that traveled like they were in a pack.

I have loved watching Flossie bloom into the wonderful woman she is today. She is a wife, mom, and entrepreneur. She is also a good and loyal friend to all of those around her.

One of my favorite things that Flossie said in todays conversation was how competition does nothing for any of us. It just brings out the ugly and we don’t need any of that. I also loved that Flossie talked about wanting to be fully present with her son, and also with her business. She doesn’t want to worry about needing to split time with the two. So I love that she asks for help, and has some good boundaries in place.

Y’all. I let a little bit of my crazy show again today. FLOSSIE’S GRANDPA MADE FIREWORKS FOR WALT DISNEY WORLD!!!! I cannot even imagine being raised with that man as a grandpa…How stinking cool!!!

One thing I loved that she said was how her Grandpa (my hero…Obviously) encouraged her to start her own company. I think that is seriously the most precious thing!

DON’T FORGET Flossie is offering 15% off in her Boutique to y’all! So go show her an yourself some love!!
