SHOW NOTES 017 Stephanie May Wilson

IT'S TIME FOR COFFEE-3IMG_0538

Check out this weeks episode here

Y’all I am SO excited to introduce you to Stephanie if you haven’t already met her online. She is seriously the sweetest and if felt like sitting down with an old friend. Stephanie has an amazing story that is all written down in her book, Lipstick Gospel. I love the work that Stephanie does from guiding women into new and deep friendship, to helping women make the most of their single lives.

I think my favorite part of this time with Stephanie is that she wants to help others have a deep and real relationship with God but her goal is to help you meet God right where you are, not like He a scary principal but to have conversations with Him, like He is your best friend.

I got to ask her for some advice for my dear babysitter who is headed off on an adventure around the world called WORLD RACE and I love what Stephanie said. “Be like  play dough.” Don’t be afraid of change! Embrace the differences! I just loved that and I know that we could all grow from that!

I just hope you love Stephanie as much as I do. I just adore her and her heart for friendship, and not just mediocre friendship but true and lasting friendship. She says, “Friendship is not something to be looked over but something to approach with intentionality!”

OKAY….So in this episode I TOTALLY missed spoke…Can anyone tell me what I said incorrectly?! The First person who tells me what I said wrong will win a free KOOZIE!!!

Here is a list of Stephanie’s Books:

SHOW NOTES 015 AMANDA SHOOK

IT'S TIME FOR COFFEE-3

Selfie - Amanda Shook

Check out this weeks episode!

Amanda Shook is a real life friend of mine. She lives in our shared hometown of Kenai Alaska and is just the sweetest. I know that I say that about every guest I have on, but they are all my friends and I don’t think I’d have friends that weren’t super sweet! ANYWAYS! Amanda is one of the first people I knew that started a “side hustle”.  I am so excited for you guys to hear how she started her Etsy shop, how it transitioned and what came of it. I think one thing I love the most about this episode is that Amanda didn’t just stay where she was, or with what she was doing. She shifted and she needed to. She stepped back when she wasn’t feeling her healthiest and she looked for an alternative path. I know that’s something I get stuck in…I started here and now I can never change!

I hope that you enjoy this conversation with Amanda, it really was just two friends sitting down and catching up on life.

ALSO, if you have any questions regarding oils, Young Living or anything along those lines I know that Amanda would be SO happy to help you!! You can send her a Message on Instagram or head to her website!

Check out this episode here!

Jamie this awesome woman of God. She is a preacher, teacher, minster, mom, wife and friend to just about everyone who meets her. She is sweet, sassy and sarcastic and just a stinking hoot to be around.

In the past two years Jamie has launched a book RICH FOR GOOD and then started a new ministry NO STRINGS ATTACHED. In this ministry her and her team go into the strip clubs in Tulsa Oklahoma to meet, make friends and share the gospel with strippers. Not to shame and condemn them but to actively show the women, bouncers, bar tenders and really anyone who will talk to them the love of Christ. It is not always easy or pretty but I am so excited by the work they are doing.

If you would like to hear more about Jamie and her mission check her out at jamielanders.com

I loved talking to Casey. She is such a sweet and wise friend! Casey and her husband live their day to day lives with such purpose and in this episode she tells us all why. She is the mom to 6…yes SIX kiddos, all adopted and each so special.

I have LOVED watching her family grow and have been so inspired by their love for adoption and the marginalized. Dan and Casey started a ministry called CHRIST IN THE MARGINS where they are having very hard and real conversations with anyone and everyone.

pic_FULL_LeBaron_Anna

Check out this episode PART 1

Check out Part 2 here!

This week you are in for a treat! First of all its a two part episode, because Jesse said it was a bad idea to put out an episode that was almost 2 hours longs. BUT I am SO excited for you to listen. Anna and I just couldn’t stop talking and like a true coffee time with my friends, we just lost track of time and kept chatting.

Anna is the author of THE POLYGAMIST DAUGHTER her real life story of being raised in a polygamist cult and how she broke free, found Christ and has found freedom in all of that. Anna is a mover and shaker and she dropped some TRUTH for us today. I really don’t think I’ll ever look at an apple seed the same way.

Anna is also known in the book world as a well known Book Launcher, and she tells us all about how that started and how her side hustle has become her main hustle. She is so persistent and strong and I am in awe of her.

I loved talking with her about EVERYTHING from counseling, to diet books, to CrossFit, Christ, books and everything in between. This was a TRUE Coffee Time with my friend and I hope you love it!

SHOW NOTES 004 MADISON ANAYA

IT'S TIME FOR COFFEE-3

This week I had the chance to sit down with my new friend Madison Anaya. We met at a Book Signing in Dallas and immediately hit it off. She is so sweet and just an open book.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Madison is young wife, learning to balance work, school, dreams and date nights by being intentional in all the areas.

We talk about how they weathered Hurricane Harvey last fall and the blessings that followed.

Madison is such an inspiration, and she is going to change the world with her encouragement, passion and determination!

We have a great conversations about people we look up to but are real careful to not compare our beginnings to their middle.

Our conversation was just so fun and natural!

Madison and I talk about how we met at Rachel Hollis’ book tour for her new book GIRL, WASH YOUR FACE. And how Rachel Hollis has inspired us to much!

Madison absolutely recommends Jen Hatmaker’s book OF MESS AND MOXIE.

I tell her how much I love  Audible  (it’s how I read most of my books…because reading and driving is looked down upon) and I tell her that she should try listening to Jamie Ivey’s  new book IF YOU ONLY KNEW.

I just finished listening to SHOE DOG Phil Knight and think you all should go out and grab it, it’s so much more than just the story of a shoe company!

Books I ALWAYS recommend

I get asked a lot for book recommendations, and it’s probably one of my favorite questions to answer and give out! So I thought I would tell y’all a list of the ones I always recommend. Sometimes I give based on what I’ve recently read and loved, but for the most part, I start with these few books…

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers– This is my all time favorite book in the entire world. I read it when I was a senior in high school and again when Titus was maybe a year old. I don’t love reading books twice because I have a long list of books I want to read. so I don’t want to spend time reading something I’ve already read. This book is my exception to that. This book so well written, a beautiful period piece and love story.

I am a firm believer that everything Francine writes is gold! I loved the Mark of The Lion series (3 books) and Marta’s Legacy (a 2 book series) and really anything else. You can’t go wrong.

Love Does by Bob Goff– I am almost certain that no one tells a story quite like Bob. He’s funny, adventurous and he used to set up office on Tom Sawyer island at DisneyLand. He’s a man that I truly believe is teaching generations to come what love looks like. In Love Does he writes about his journey to faith, his family, his career, and so much more. I cannot say enough good things about this book! He has a new book coming out in April and I CANNOT WAIT!!

Kisses From Katie by Katie Davis– Now her name is Katie Davis Majors and I feel like I mention this book in almost every blog, but to me this was a game changer. I love her story, I love her heart and I love that it was shared in this way! I just finished her latest book Daring to Hope and it was great too. But honestly I don’t know that anything she writes will ever compare in my heart to her first book.

Switching gears a bit…

On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves– This book is captivating! I read it all in one day and it was just GOOD! It’s got some romance but not R rated or anything, and it’s a sweet love story. I think it would be the best beach read, or great for traveling.

I’ve read just about everything Tracey Garvis Graves has put out, and they are all good. Some are definitely a little saucier, but all great reads.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty– I read this book while on a vacation with my cousin. It is so funny because we both read it, and we both LOVED it, but we also saw the ending very differently. I couldn’t fathom the idea of losing my memory, but that last thing she remembers is that she was pregnant at the gym happily married, and the next thing she knows she has a 10 year old and in the middle of a divorce. The book walks through how much our lives can change in ten years and that alone was phenomenal!

I haven’t read everything Liane has written and while I LOVED Big Little Lies, she has another one that I just couldn’t get into, so I set it down.

Harry Potter by J.K Rowling- I would be a lying liar if i didn’t add these books to this list! I didn’t read Potter until I was about 28, and I don’t even have the words to express! The magical world that J.K Rowling created is beautiful. Her books are much more than the magic within the pages but speak of love, hope, discrimination, light and dark….all of it! It’s just pure magic. ALSO if you are not an avid reader but want to read the books, these are the best audiobooks I’ve ever heard.

I think I’ll end there. I do have some more, but I don’t want to bore you. Let me know what you love and if you’d like some kid suggestions I can do that too!!

My little reader. He is so much like me. Loves to read and devours series! I love that we have this shared interest!
