New Year...New Goals

This year I wanted to do small goals that I could build on each month. I didn't want to feel like I had to change everything all at once, so I stole an idea from a friend of mine! Thanks @emilalah ;)

So I wanted to take this year and really sit with what was a good habit, something that would feed into my greater goals and just WHO I want to be! Not in the "best self" sort of way but the way that knows I am caring for ME in the best way I can. And on the flip side, I wanted to evaluate the things I was doing, both intentionally and unintentionally, to be mindful and break some habits.

So for all of 2023, I will take one good habit in and one bad habit out each month!

For example, in January, my good habit goal is to walk 100 miles on my walking pad. Now I can walk and work, and I am feeling so productive. This is also helping me with some body issues I am dealing with and breaking some bad snacking habits! Because if I am at my desk walking, it's more challenging to hide out and snack in the pantry!

The bad habit I am kicking this year off with is dry January. Like most of us, the holidays are full of fun and indulgence. Participating in a dry (no-alcohol) month is really helping me evaluate my relationship with alcohol.

I am not expecting either of these things to dramatically change my life, but I am hopeful of creating better habits both during my workday and in the evening, as reaching for a glass of wine won't be an option.

I realize that this is not earth-shattering and that setting my year up this way isn't new. I mentioned I stole this friend who did this last year! But as I have talked about this with my friends, and as they have joined me, it's interesting to see what their good and bad habits are. One friend is not swearing, and another is working on her negative self-talk. I love that as we take this challenge, it will look different every month.

Now let me give you a quick overview of what the next couple of months looks like for me!

Jan:

Good- walk 100 miles

Bad- Dry Jan

Feb:

Good-create and stick to an am & pm skincare routine

Bad- Fast food

March:

Good-Crossfit 5 days a week

Bad-No spending $$

That is as far as I have gotten because I intend to take time and see what habits I am seeing come from these months and build from there.
