-A court of thorns and roses (I'm counting these three books as 1)
-Things we never got over
-Anything I read by Colleen Hover (3 books- Verity, Reminders of Him & November 9th) Again, counting these three as 1...my blog, my rules!
-The Bodyguard
Honorable Mentions:
The Measure - a really neat concept for a book. I loved how they showed the divisiveness of the ones who did and the ones who didn't. Felt like an accurate depiction of the vaccine debates without being focused on a pandemic.
Local Woman Missing & When She Returned-
I have a habit of reading very light, fluffy, and happy beach reads all summer, so in the fall to pallet cleanse, I tend to go dark. At least, that's what I did this year. I read these two books back to back, and whew...they are good!
Not for me:
Before we jump into this, I want us to normalize not finishing books. If it is not your style, if it's not keeping your attention or if you don't like it, stop reading it! Because here's what happens. You force yourself to read; you don't enjoy it, you never finish it and you feel like you can't start a new book because you haven't finished the last one and it's a weird shame cycle that makes you stop reading! No more of that!
If you don't like a book, you don't have to finish it! But let's not go bash or leave a negative review. We can share our feelings without hurting other people's feelings. (Hi, I'm jeanette, and I am afraid to hurt people's feelings!)
Ok, now with that pep talk out of the way, here are a couple of books that weren't for me or that I left unfinished!
-Book Shop Around The Corner- I couldn't keep the people straight, and the story didn't click with me. I didn't finish it. Many gals in the book club loved this book and devoured the whole series!
-I read and liked the first three books of the Court of Thorns and Roses, but the fourth book was not for me. I didn't care for Nesta like I did her sister and Rhys.
-I listened to 5 of the 9 Bridgerton Books and had to stop. They are all just the same, and just so you know, they are MUCH steamier on Netflix than in the book, which I was thankful for!
Well, there you have it! Books I loved, books I read and books I set down!
I would LOVE to know what was your favorite book this year.
Do you set reading goals? Did you meet said goal?
